Giving A Little Back

Mary Griffiths with her late daughter, Christine

Mary Griffiths will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend to a lot of people.  In 1970, after losing her husband, Thomas, she was left the responsibility of running the business.  She relied on her strength to keep the family business going.  With all her hard efforts, Mary and Martin built the Market Deli to what it is today.  She was a very strong, independent person who only gave up work because her knees had failed her.  She successfully had one knee replaced but never felt strong enough to return to her much loved role in the Market.  Unfortunately in 2000 she was diagnosed with a melanoma in her leg, which finally took her from us in May 2001 aged 80.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.  They support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.  Cancer is common – over 270,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the UK. Cancer Research UK are working hard to improve our understanding of cancer and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.

Market Deli - Cheryl Griffiths Sadly Missed

                                                          Cheryl Griffiths

On Thursday, 14th of April 2005, Andrew's mother, Cheryl, celebrated her 50th Birthday.  It was a small party just with close family and friends.  That evening Cheryl announced how happy she was and how lucky she felt to be surrounded by the people she loved.  Quite suddenly at 3.00am on Saturday, 16th of April 2005 Cheryl complained of feeling unwell and by 6.35am Cheryl had sadly passed away due to a massive heart attack.  Cheryl was a healthy, happy go lucky person who was loving life in her final years, more than ever before.  It was, and still is, a great shock to us.  Life is about meeting and partings but it never gets easier losing the ones we love.  Cheryl is sadly missed and very much loved.

CherylGriffiths.com has been created in her cherished memory.
